For anyone that doesn’t know (which is probably everyone [in the entire world!]) I’ve been getting tonnes of registrations to the site from names/emails like JamIroloWrona/insimigrw@gawab.com and endummimemn/swaxicice@gawab.com. Obviously these are fakes, hopefully by bots, and should be prevented now since I’m using reCAPTCHA on the registration form.
And that’s about all I have to say. I know I don’t post on here very much ever, but ah well I don’t think anyone reads this stuff very much ever.
Work lately is kinda sucking. Not due to the work itself, but rather for the lack of it. I got my car fixed, from when the transmission died on me just before Christmas, and the bill was quite hefty so now with work availability being so lack luster it’s got me a bit nervous.
I picked up a few games for the DS in the last little while. I grabbed Elebits: The Adventures of Kai and Zero and picked up Final Fantasy VI Advance off of eBay (okay so that’s not a DS game, but I’m playing it on my DS). I was playing them both back and forth, favoring Elebits at first and I’m currently near the end of the game (at least I think I am…) but I’ve kind of lost interest in it and am now playing FF6 instead. I never did beat this game back on the SNES. I once borrowed the cart off a friend but lost interest shortly after I hit the World of Ruin (about the halfway point of the game for those that don’t know [or care, heh]). That was over 10 years ago now though so as I’m playing through I’m not remembering much, just scattered things here and there. I also picked up Avalon Code because I played a demo for it and thought it was really interesting. I’m not playing it yet though, I’m fighting the urge to check it out because I know that if I get into it then FF6 is going to be left by the wayside and I’d really like to finish it this time.
My nephew is now eating baby food and drinking juice. I have a picture.
I suppose it might help if I actually had some basic topic that I was writing about, but I don’t. Just another personal update.
So first off, I updated the To-do list with some more movies I’d like to see, plus crossed off a few that I have seen. With all my usual TV shows on hiatus since before Christmas I’ve been filling all my time with movies. Just since Christmas I’ve watched 11 movies that I can think of, only 3 of which were even on my list. And since I know you’re all just dying to know how I’ve been wasting my time lately, I will list them:
Pineapple Express (better than I expected)
The Rundown (older, but still pretty good)
The House Bunny (it… had it’s moments)
Tropic Thunder (also better than I expected)
Bangkok Dangerous (not as good as I expected)
Burn After Reading (it was… different)
Smokin’ Aces (not bad)
Wanted (not bad, but not as good as I expected)
Hellboy 2 (not bad, not awesome, but not bad)
Batman Begins (petty good, rather enjoyed it)
The Incredible Hulk (really enjoyed this one)
Second, I’ve played through and beaten Chrono Trigger for the DS. I’ve collected two endings so far (the standard one, and the programmers’ ending). I haven’t really touched on the two extra dungeons, although I hear they aren’t really much to write home about anyway. I really enjoyed playing it again, I don’t know what it is about it but I just enjoy the game to death. Considering I played through the SNES cart like a hundred times (all my characters level 99, all the stats maxed out, etc) I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised, and unlike some people whining that they didn’t update the graphics, etc, I am glad they didn’t do so. I’m more a fan of the oldstyle 2D sprites than, say, the new look for Final Fantasy 3/4. About the only thing they could have done to make the game better IMHO was add some of the content that was allegedly cut from the original release, but what I’ve heard may have only been rumours anyway, meaning there was no trimmed content.
Either way, I really enjoyed it, even if the only major change to the game was the rewritten/re-translated dialogue.
Thirdly, my food is ready and I have to work tonight, so I’m going to call it quits for now. I didn’t really have anything more pertinent to talk about anyway (do I ever?), so I’m just going to leave you with a YouTube playlist of several videos of my adorable nephew.
I know it’s nearly the end of the day, but I was busy for the rest of it. Not like it matters to the one person who reads this anyway. ;)
Anyway, to anyone that reads this, hope you had a good day, and have a happy new year as well. I might make a post for New Year’s but it will probably be in the same vein as this one. Very brief, that is.
Oh, word to the wise, don’t start drinking til after you’re done cooking. Especially if you’re tired and haven’t eaten much.
So I had just gotten home from work and decided to check my email and stuff before I went to bed. On a whim, I decided to see how many text messages I had sent in the last month. I hadn’t checked my cell phone account for quite some time, because I had set everything up with auto payments, and auto renewals. I had chosen the “messaging 2500″ plan, which allows for 2500 texts in a 30-day period, for $10.00 (a bargain considering that one text is $0.15 without a plan, and I text a fair amount). Anyway, when I checked the last 30 days in the “data usage summary”, I see that I’ve been charged $118.50 for a little over 1000 text messages! Well, this can’t be right, I’m thinking, so I have a look at my transaction history, and from November 21 onward, I’ve been charged $0.15 for every text message. Well I’m not very happy at all now, so I scour the Telus site and figure out how to send them an email, and then I write up this little piece of correspondence. (more…)
