Telus annoys me…

So I had just gotten home from work and decided to check my email and stuff before I went to bed. On a whim, I decided to see how many text messages I had sent in the last month. I hadn’t checked my cell phone account for quite some time, because I had set everything up with auto payments, and auto renewals. I had chosen the “messaging 2500″ plan, which allows for 2500 texts in a 30-day period, for $10.00 (a bargain considering that one text is $0.15 without a plan, and I text a fair amount). Anyway, when I checked the last 30 days in the “data usage summary”, I see that I’ve been charged $118.50 for a little over 1000 text messages! Well, this can’t be right, I’m thinking, so I have a look at my transaction history, and from November 21 onward, I’ve been charged $0.15 for every text message. Well I’m not very happy at all now, so I scour the Telus site and figure out how to send them an email, and then I write up this little piece of correspondence.
I just checked my transaction history and realized, to my extreme surprise, that even though I chose “auto renew upon expiration” for the “messaging 2500″ service on October 22, it never renewed! I’ve, unknowingly, been paying $0.15/text apparently since November 21 4:26pm. According to the “data usage summary” that’s $118.50, over 10 times the amount the “messaging 2500″ feature costs! Why did this feature not renew when it was supposed to? Regardless of the things I have heard from other customers in my area, I chose to trust Telus. Hopefully I will be able to keep that trust. I would appreciate a reimbursement of some sort for these charges. I used to feel safe dealing with Telus before, but if these charges stick, then no longer. I will be scrutinizing every charge that comes my way and I’ll also want to know how I can disable automatic top-ups with my credit card.
Now I sit and wait to see what their response is. Hopefully it’s just been a mix up in the system and I’ll be able to follow up this post with “Telus makes me happy”.
Laters.

And you’re just annoyed? Damn. That’s one heck of a phone bill.

Dude, you talk (text) too much *snerk*
Actually, your phone bill would probably have been lower had you actually paid minutes to talk since you can talk and get more in in a minute than say, 10 texts at 15 cents apiece.
Also one reason why I don’t have auto-renewal for balance once it reaches a certain amount ..harder to keep track of that way ..I prefer the cards I manually add since I can keep an eye on the balance daily. I just set an alarm to remind me for the day before I need to top up just in case its a quiet month so I don’t lose what balance I do have.
Yup, just threaten to leave their service and they’ll act. Especially considering, you know, they effed up with the non-auto-renew. Good luck!
