So I bought this game, No More Heroes, for the Wii several days ago and beat it in about 3 days. Not very long but I really enjoyed it. You play the part of Travis Touchdown, an oddball otaku who won a lightsaber, er, I mean beam katana, through some kind of online auction and decides to try contract killing. He takes a job to kill some guy named Helter Skelter and succeeds. Apparently this puts him at rank #11 in the US Assassins Association (UAA) and some French hottie he meets at a bar encourages him to work his way up to number 1. The gameplay follows a fairly standard routine. To begin each rank up mission you need to pay a substantial sum to the UAA (the first fee was around $50,000, the last was $550,000) which means you need to go make some money, and making money in this game is not immediately as easy as running out and killing some bad guys. First you take some demeaning part-time job, and then if you do well you’re offered an assassination gig. The part-time jobs ranged from coconut collecting to pumping gas to land mine removal. Once you have enough money, it’s off to your ranked fight, and once you’re done that, the whole cycle repeats itself, but don’t get me wrong, I really did enjoy the game. No sarcasm intended.

If you’re not content with my half-assed review though, just check out Yahtzee’s take on the game.
